FRENCH CHAIR MAKE OVER - pale provence & drop cloth

Officially today is the first day of summer!! YIPPEE
I am writing to you this morning fresh out of the shower, towel on my head, wrapped in a
robe, eating cereal, looking out the window in anticipation ...
only to see another miserably wet day. Time to UPHOLSTER!

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in blue and white. The frame
was first painted in Provence, then in a light blue made
from mixing Provence and Old White. The carved details
were then hand painted with old white. I distressed with
sand paper then clear waxed the whole frame. I also went
back in an used some dark wax in crevices and carved areas.

PALE PROVENCE CHAIR
You can see the bright blue of the Provence peaking through the light blue.

Now to share some of the supplies I used to upholster the chair.

Cotton batting to soften the edges of the seat.

New 1" thick foam pieces to fit the shape of the chair backs.

I used heavy cotton twill drop cloth for the upholstery.

And finally off-white gimp to trim the seat and back.
